Pug Fights
Hi-
We have two little black pugs who fight with each other constantly, and we can't figure out how to stop them. One is four, and the other a year and a half, and the older one goes after the younger one regularly.
This has caused her one serious eye injury already, but she keeps at it whenever she perceives the younger one to be getting attention. Any suggestions on how to stop this behavior?

Hi Meg,
In the dog world there has to be a top dog. Which ever dog is more dominant, you need to back her. Feed her first, give her treats first, attention etc. What we think is fair is not how dogs think.
Also, work on the Down/Stay command. This way you can show affection to one with the other staying in their position. I would not leave them out alone if they are fighting and harming each other; usually the fighting is for attention.
Spend time with them separately, and together, working on their basic obedience commands.
Use a shake can if fighting occurs, this is to startle them, and let them know you are not pleased. Usually there are a lot of signs before this happens, so be aware of their body language.
Good luck,
