Problems Grooming Shitzu Dear Lisa, I have a shitzu who will not have a groomer trim her face ... she attempts to bite. I have been with her when grooming is done and I have left her alone with the groomer. I have had them come to the house and I have taken her there. I have been through 8 groomers. I have had her since 8 weeks. She is 9 years old and in good health. In every other way she is loving. I am home all the time and she has another shitz that lives with her so she gets a lot of love. What should I do? It has become a bad problem. Worried Hi There, It sounds as if this grooming problem has been going on for quite a while. At this time, it is going to be very hard for you to change how she acts when groomed. If you had worked with this while she was younger, you might have been successful in desensitizing her to grooming. At her age, you might consider a sedative to calm the situation.
