Trouble with Boxer

Good morning,
I have a question about my dog. He is a 3 year old Boxer who apparently doesn't like being left alone. I take him outside to relieve himself but after taking him back inside; if I go outside he immediately relieves himself in the house. Can you offer a solution?

Thanks
Jessie

Morning Jessie,
Is your boxer drinking water as soon as he comes back in? A lot of times, a dog will go out, relieve themselves, come back in, drink more water and have to relieve themself again. Try taking him out, watch to see if he relieves himself, bring him in, wait a few minutes then take him out again.

Before you leave, give him something to occupy his mind, like a Kong with peanut butter, so he's busy working on that and not worrying about you leaving. You want to use something special that he would only get when you go out. Never make a big deal about leaving or returning home.

He should be ignored at these times. ( This can be very hard).

Good luck,
Lisa Lombardo
