Agressive ShihTzu My shitzu is aggressive towards aother dogs and puppies. What can I do? He is a 6 year old shitzu male that has been neutered. In the last two-three years when he sees another dog he runs up to it like he is going to play, wagging his tail, etc., but then he starts attacking the dog, no matter what the size, even little puppies. I cant trust him at all around other dogs any more. He used to be so friendly. Nothing really traumatic has happened. He did go from socializing with other dogs to more of a home body as my work hours increased. That is the only difference I can think of. Thank you so much for any suggestions you might have. He has never had any training, but he listens well to commands and is a good dog in every area except with other dogs. Don't let them have any contact, just walk quickly, pretty soon he'llforget about the other dog and as he becomes more comfortable youmight be able to introduce the two, on lead and away from your home. It's going to take time, but by controlling him on lead you should be able to get him out more. Look for any signs of aggression, and verbally reprimand right away.
